Dear Class of 2016,

On behalf of the faculty and staff of the College of Arts and Sciences and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, we cordially invite you and your guests to participate in our Convocation ceremony on Saturday, May 14 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Carrier Dome.  The Convocation ceremony provides a unique opportunity for individual recognition of our students and honors those who have successfully completed their degrees.

Tickets are not needed for this event, but if any of your guests need an interpreter, please have them sit in Aisle 126 or 127.  Immediately following convocation, you and your guests are invited to attend a reception.

Please arrive at the Dome by 7:30 a.m.  All degree candidates and guests will be required to pass through security before being seated.  Security wands will be used and only purses or bags measuring 10” x 10” OR LESS will be allowed into the Dome. All bags will be searched upon entry.  There will be NO HOLDING AREAS for purses or bags not allowed into the Dome, so please plan accordingly and arrive early.

By long standing tradition, caps and gowns are worn for this ceremony and graduating seniors sit together as a class, distinct from faculty and guests.  Please visit our convocation website for detailed instructions on the procedure you will follow for this event.  We ask that you upload a recording of the pronunciation of your name HERE so it is announced accurately as you walk across the graduation stage (log in using your My Slice username and password).  We also ask you take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your post-graduation plans.

We look forward to sharing this happy occasion with you and your family and guests.  If you have any questions about the ceremony or other weekend events, please visit 323 Hall of Languages.

Best wishes,

Karin Ruhlandt
Dean, College of Arts and Sciences
